Lynn Timms is a Registered Nurse, Health Visitor ( Dip), BSc (Hons) Psychology, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, Teacher of Developmental Baby Massage and Movement and more recently an Indian Head Masseur(Adult)
With a previous working background in the NHS Lynn has developed her private practice within her thriving small business of Breastfeeding Matters offering breastfeeding and infant feeding support via home visits and alongside Mary Jane Anderton in their free drop in group in Portsmouth . She also offers training sessions for groups of likeminded professionals.
As a key member of the Association of Tongue-tie Practitioners, Lynn is a tongue-tie practitioner, specialising in tongue-tie assessment, dividing if appropriate and , crucially, supporting ongoing feeding
Lynn is thrilled to be participating in the Positive Birth Portsmouth Conference and looks forward to meeting delegates and discussing how to support parents with their feeding experiences
Mary Jane is an Osteopath, consultant, and post-graduate teacher of Osteopathy, with special interest in the work of Dr Sutherland who introduced Osteopathy in the cranial field. She qualified as an Osteopath in 1981 from the European School of Osteopathy.
Mary Jane is one of the very earliest members of the General Osteopathic Council (registration number 23).She is also a Fellow of the Sutherland Cranial College of Osteopathy.
Mary Jane has worked in private practice in west and southwest London for over 35 years, and with the Osteopathic Centre for Children in central London.
She moved back to Portsmouth - her home area - a few years ago and has gradually begun to treat there - developing a new practice in Southsea this year named Maris Cottage.
In July 2016 Mary Jane started working with Lynn Timms at her breastfeeding drop-in clinic at Langstone Church, Shore Avenue, Eastney where she assesses baby feeding and digestive difficulties. See www.breastfeedingmatters.co.uk
Mary Jane has taught Osteopathy to others for many years too - at the European School of Osteopathy, with the Sutherland Cranial College, and independently in Europe and Russia.
She was a consultant and taught at the Osteopathic Centre for Children in in Central London in 2004/5, and in 2007 she helped establish a clinic for children with additional needs and their siblings with the charity “metooandco”.
She now brings her skills and experience of treating patients, especially babies and children, to Southsea.
Southsea Slings is a baby carrier consultancy, retail and hire service, passionate about the many benefits of babywearing. Rachel Hammerton and Sophy Yildirim are both qualified and experienced babywearing consultants. Established in 2012 Southsea Slings, provides access to babywearing safety and comfort advice, together with social opportunities in the local community. Running regular free to attend drop in sessions in Portsmouth (weekly term-time) , Havant and Chichester (monthly). Their services also include private consultations in the comfort of clients' homes, as well as, workshops, talks and event stalls.
